We are excited to share that the 2025-2026 school year calendar was approved by the school board on Tuesday night. It includes several important updates that reflect our commitment to aligning with neighboring districts and enhancing the overall learning experience for our students.
Key Changes :
Earlier Start Date: The school year will begin earlier in August. This adjustment is possible because all RPS 205 schools are equipped with air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable learning environment during warmer months.
Fall Break: We will continue to offer a full week off for Fall Break, giving families and staff time to recharge.
First Semester Ends Before Winter Break: High School students will complete their first semester before Winter Break, allowing for a true break without pending exams or projects.
School Year Ends Before Memorial Day: The last day of school will occur before Memorial Day, providing families an earlier start to summer vacation.
The 2025-2026 calendar can be viewed here on the Calendar page on rps205.com: https://5il.co/33ras

See you on Monday, December 2!

Popular author Gordon Korman visited Flinn Middle School. He wrote his first book when he was in 7th grade & published it when he was in 9th grade! Gordon talked about how he wrote his first novel when he was only twelve — a four-month-long seventh-grade language arts assignment that produced THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL, which was published by Scholastic when he was 14. Gordon talked about research, brainstorming, developing characters, dialogue, rewriting & revision, and humor. Flinn invited Gordon Korman to share his love of writing, his experience, and writing strategies to encourage students to become better writers themselves.

Social media post for today’s author visit 😁
Today, we had the incredible privilege of welcoming Gordon Korman to Falcon Country! 🦅🎉
Gordon shared his inspiring journey of publishing his first book in 7th grade, talked about the inspirations behind his amazing novels, and gave us an exclusive sneak peek by reading from his newest book, Faker! 📖🙌
Students who brought in their favorite Korman books even got them signed—what an unforgettable experience! 🖊️❤️
A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Andrus for organizing this fantastic event! 🥳 Your hard work made this day so special for our students!
