Earlier today, Whitehead Elementary held a spirit day instead of a traditional Halloween celebration. Principal Randall & Assistant Principal Skaggs dressed as Gru & Bob from the Minion movies & asked all students & staff to join the fun by wearing yellow shirts & blue pants. Students were given paper minion goggles. After dismissal, the staff continued the mission & started building community with their neighbors next door at Flinn Middle School. They were able to pull off a sneak attack on Principal Schrank with the help from an ally inside.

Remember Flinn Students, No costumes tomorrow!

Principal Appreciation Day: This annual recognition was first approved by Illinois' Governor in 1990. We took pictures of our principals at our 41 schools & asked students to draw them for us. Here are some of their works of art. Thank you all RPS 205 Principals!

Congratulations to Flinn Middle School Principal Cory Schrank for being named 97ZOk's Teacher of the Week!

Red Ribbon Week

Come join us!!

The Youth Story Ledger was held at Flinn Middle School. It’s an event where 6-12 grade students from Flinn, Marshall, West, and Auburn shared personal narratives with the community. These stories offer deep insights into their lives, experiences, & dreams, challenging negative biases & showcasing resilience, bravery, & intelligence. By sharing their stories, students empower themselves & foster understanding & empathy within our community. This year, the Youth Story Ledger was able to expand through a grant from the Golden Apple Foundation of Rockford.

Have a great day!

🚀 Our students continued their storytelling journey with Dr. Ada Cheng today! ✨
Building on her previous insights, the workshop focused on crafting personal narratives with an emphasis on vulnerability and internal dialogue. A big shout out to the Golden Apple Foundation for funding this amazing collaboration! 🙌
We’re also excited for Dr. Cheng’s attendance at the upcoming Youth Story Ledger oral storytelling event on 10/14, where our students will showcase their growth. 📖
It was fantastic to see our Flinn Falcons team up with students from Marshall Middle School’s Mustangs 🐴, reinforcing the power of storytelling to connect us all! ❤️
